History
On December 21, 1975, the first official service was held with the Bishop Finger presiding. Forty persons joined the church on this day. Regular church services were held each Sunday beginning January 4, 1976, at the LaVergne Elementary School and on October 9, 1977, the congregation moved into its new building on Waldron Road.
On October 14, 1975, a group of people met at the LaVergne Civic Auditorium to discuss the establishment of a new Methodist Church in LaVergne, Tennessee. The Reverend H. Fred Blankenship, District Superintendent, led the meeting with the Reverend Roland Perkins assisting. Approximately 26 people attended the meeting.
On December 21, 1975, a Service of Worship and Organization was held at LaVergne Elementary School. Reverend Roland Perkins served as Minister of the church. Forty people joined the church on that day.
Land was purchased for a church building and a ground breaking ceremony was held on March 13, 1977. The building was completed and a Service of Consecration was held on December 18, 1977, with Earl G. Hunt, Jr., Resident Bishop, H. Fred Blankenship, District Superintendent, and J.C. Lawson, Jr., Pastor, presiding.
